 1         Scripture Sentence

Jesus said:

‘I am the resurrection and the life.

Whoever has faith in me shall live,

even though he dies;

and no one who lives and has faith in me

shall ever die.’

St John 11: 25, 26

2         Collect of the Day Daily Prayer

 3         Song of Praise

The Easter Anthems                                                    1 Corinthians 5: 7, 8

Romans 6: 9 - 11

1 Corinthians 15: 20 - 22

1          Christ our Passover lamb has been sacrificed.

2          So we who observe the festival

must not use the old leaven,

the leaven of depravity and wickedness,

but only the unleavened bread

which is sincerity and truth.

3          Christ, once raised from the dead,

                        is never to die again:

he is no longer under the dominion of death.

4          When he died, he died to sin, once for all,

and now that he lives, he lives to God

5          In the same way

you must regard yourselves as dead to sin

and alive to God, in union with Christ Jesus.

6          Christ was raised to life –

the firstfruits of the harvest of the dead.

7          For since it was a man

who brought death into the world,

a man also brought resurrection of the dead.

8          As in Adam all die,

so in Christ all will be brought to life.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit:

as it was in the beginning, is now,

and will be for ever.                                       Amen.

 7         Song of Praise

The song of God’s children                                         Romans 8: 2; 14 – 19

1          In Christ Jesus the life-giving law of the Spirit

has set us free from the law of sin and death.

2          All who are led by the Spirit of God

                        are sons of God.

The Spirit we have received

is not a spirit of slavery,

3          leading us back into a life of fear,

                        but a Spirit of adoption,

enabling us to cry ‘Abba! Father!’

4          The Spirit of God affirms to our spirit

that we are God’s children;

and if children, then heirs,

heirs of God

5          and fellow-heirs with Christ;

but we must share his sufferings

if we are also to share his glory.

6          The sufferings we now endure

bear no comparison with the glory,

as yet unrevealed, which is in store for us.

7          The created universe is waiting

                        with eager expectation

for God’s children to be revealed.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit:

as it was in the beginning, is now,

and will be for ever.

Amen.

 8         Apostles’ Creed

 9         Thanksgivings and Intercessions
            Prayers for the season

            Lord’s Prayer

10        Final Collect

Almighty Father,
whose Son Jesus Christ
is the Way, the Truth, the Life:
keep us upright in the way,
faithful to the truth
and eager for the life;
until our lives
are a perfect image
of his eternal love,
who is alive and reigns with you
in the unity of the Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Abide with us, Lord,

for evening approaches

and the day is almost over.

Abide with us, Lord,

for the days are hastening on

and we hasten on with them.

Abide with us, Lord,

and with all your faithful people,

making yourself known

in the breaking of the word and of the bread.

Abide with us, Lord,

until the day-star rises

and the morning light appears,

and we shall live with you for ever and ever.

            Amen.

11        Conclusion

Let us bless the Lord.

    Thanks be to God.

The God of peace,

who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus,

the great Shepherd of the sheep,

through the blood of an eternal covenant,

make us perfect in all goodness

so that we may do his will.

May he create in us what is pleasing to him;

through Jesus Christ,

to whom be glory for ever and ever!

Amen.
