 1         Scripture Sentence

The Lord God says:

‘I shall put my spirit into you

and you will come to life,

and I shall settle you on your own soil,

and you will know that I the Lord have spoken

and I shall act.’

Ezekiel 37: 14

 2         Collect of the Day Daily Prayer

 3         Song of Praise

The delivering and redeeming God                            Isaiah 63: 7 - 14, 16

1          I shall recount the Lord’s unfailing love,

the prowess of the Lord,

according to all he has done for us,

his great goodness to the house of Israel,

2          what he has done for them in his tenderness

and by his many acts of faithful love.

3          He said, ‘Surely they are my people,

children who will not play me false’;

and he became their deliverer

in all their troubles.

4          No envoy, no angel,

            but he himself delivered them,

redeemed them in his love and pity;

5          he lifted them up and carried them

through all the days of old.

6          Yet they rebelled and grieved his holy spirit;

so he turned hostile to them

and himself fought against them.

7          Then they recalled days long past

and him who drew out his people:

8          where is he who brought up from the Nile

the shepherd of his flock?

9          Where is he who put within him his holy spirit,

who sent his glorious power

to walk at Moses’ right hand?

10        Where is he

            who divided the waters before them,

to win for himself everlasting renown,

11        who brought them through the deep

sure-footed as horses in open country,

12        like cattle moving down into a valley

guided by the spirit of the Lord?

13        Thus you led your people

to win yourself a glorious name.

14        You, Lord, are our Father;

our Redeemer from of old is your name.

Glory to you, our God, for ever and ever.

            Amen.

 7         Song of Praise

Sing a new song to the Lord                                       Isaiah 42: 10 - 12; 43: 1 - 3, 11

1          Sing a new song to the Lord,

sing his praise throughout the world,

2          you that sail the broad seas,

and you that inhabit the coasts and islands.

3          Let the wilderness and its settlement rejoice,

and the encampments where Kedar lives.

4          Let the inhabitants of Sela shout for joy,

let them cry out from the hilltops.

5          Let the coasts and islands

                        ascribe glory to the Lord;

let them sing his praise.

6          Now, Jacob, this is the word of the Lord,

the word of your Creator,

of him who fashioned you, Israel:

7          have no fear, for I have redeemed you;

I call you by name; you are mine.

8          When you pass through water

                        I shall be with you;

when you pass through rivers

they will not overwhelm you;

9          walk through fire, and you will not be scorched,

through flames, and they will not burn you.

10        I am the Lord your God,

the Holy One of Israel, your deliverer.

11        You are the Lord,

you alone are our deliverer.

Glory to you for ever and ever.

Amen.

 8         Apostles’ Creed

10        Final Collect

Almighty Father,
whose Son Jesus Christ
is the Way, the Truth, the Life:
keep us upright in the way,
faithful to the truth
and eager for the life;
until our lives
are a perfect image
of his eternal love,
who is alive and reigns with you
in the unity of the Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

God, the well-spring of our life,

pour into our hearts the living water of your grace

that, refreshed by you,

we may live this day

in steadfast reliance on your strength;

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

11        Conclusion

In this place will be heard once more

the sounds of joy and gladness,

the voices of bridegroom and bride;

here too will be heard voices shouting,

‘Praise the Lord of Hosts,

for the Lord is good; his love endures for ever.’

            Amen.
