 1         Scripture Sentence

All that is true, all that is noble,

all that is just and pure,

all that is lovable and attractive,

whatever is excellent and admirable –

fill your thoughts with these things.

Philippians 4: 8

 2         Collect of the Day Daily Prayer

 3         Song of Praise

Zechariah’s Song                                                        Luke 1: 68 - 79

1          Praise to the Lord, the God of Israel!

For he has turned to his people

and set them free.

2          He has raised for us a strong deliverer

from the house of his servant David.

3          So he promised:

age after age he proclaimed

by the lips of his holy prophets,

4          that he would deliver us from our enemies,

out of the hands of all who hate us;

5          that, calling to mind his solemn covenant,

he would deal mercifully with our fathers.

6          This was the oath he swore

            to our father Abraham,

to rescue us from enemy hands

and set us free from fear,

7          so that we might worship in his presence

in holiness and righteousness

our whole life long.

8          And you, my child,

will be called Prophet of the Most High,

for you will be the Lord’s forerunner,

to prepare his way

9          and lead his people to a knowledge of salvation

through the forgiveness of their sins:

10        for in the tender compassion of our God

the dawn of heaven will break upon us,

11        to shine on those who live in darkness,

                        under the shadow of death,

and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit:

as it was in the beginning, is now,

and will be for ever.

Amen.

 7         Song of Praise

The New Jerusalem                             Revelation 21: 1, 2, 22 - 27; 22: 3 - 5; 7: 12

1          I saw a new heaven and a new earth,

for the first heaven

and the first earth had vanished

and there was no longer any sea.

2          I saw the Holy City, new Jerusalem,

coming down out of heaven from God,

made ready like a bride

adorned for her husband.

3          I saw no temple in the city,

for its temple was the sovereign Lord God

and the Lamb.

4          The city did not need

                        the sun or the moon to shine on it,

for the glory of God gave it light,

and its lamp was the Lamb.

5          By its light shall the nations walk,

and to it the kings of the earth

shall bring their splendour.

6          The gates of the city shall never be shut by day,

nor will there be any night there.

7          The splendour and wealth of the nations

shall be brought into it,

but nothing unclean shall enter,

nor anyone whose ways are foul or false;

only those shall enter

whose names are inscribed

in the Lamb’s book of life.

8          The throne of God and of the Lamb

                        will be there,

and his servants shall worship him;

9          they shall see him face to face

and bear his name on their foreheads.

10        There shall be no more night,

nor will they need the light of lamp or sun,

11        for the Lord God will give them light;

and they shall reign for ever.

12        Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom,

thanksgiving and honour,

13        power and might,

be to our God for ever!                         Amen.

 8         Apostles’ Creed

 9         Thanksgivings and Intercessions
            Prayers for the season

            Lord’s Prayer

10        Final Collect

Lord Christ,
we are strangers and pilgrims on the earth,
disconcerted by the world's violence
and its sorrow,
distracted by our inward doubts and fears.
Wherever we are on this day's journey,
breathe on us your gentle Spirit,
that we may be oases
of quietness and refreshment,
bringing to your uneasy world
reconciliation and peace. Amen.

Lighten our darkness, we pray, Lord;

and by your mercy defend us

from all perils and dangers of this night;

for the love of your only Son,

our Saviour, Jesus Christ.                                  Amen.

11        Conclusion

Praise and honour, glory and might,

to him who sits on the throne

and to the Lamb for ever and ever!

Amen.
