Tuesday

Morning

 1         Scripture Sentence

Lord, I have heard of your fame;

Lord, I am in awe of what you have done.

Through all generations

you have made yourself known,

and in your wrath you did not forget mercy.

Habakkuk 3: 2

 2         Collect of the Day Daily Prayer

 3         Song of Praise

God is my deliverer                             Isaiah 12: 2 - 6

1          God is my deliverer.

I am confident and unafraid,

for the Lord is my refuge and defence

and has shown himself my deliverer.

2          With joy you will all draw water

from the wells of deliverance.

3          On that day you will say:

‘Give thanks to the Lord, invoke him by name.

4          ‘Make known among the peoples

what he has done,

proclaim that his name is exalted.

5          ‘Sing psalms to the Lord, for he has triumphed;

let this be known in all the world.

6          ‘Cry out, shout aloud, you dwellers in Zion,

for the Holy One of Israel

is among you in majesty.’

We praise you, we bless you,

we worship you, we glorify you,

strong deliverer, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,

almighty and eternal God, glorious for ever.

            Amen.

Hannah’s Prayer                                                         1 Samuel 2: 1, 2, 4, 7 - 8

1          My heart exults in the Lord,

in the Lord I now hold my head high;

I rejoice because you have saved me.

2          There is none but you,

none so holy as the Lord,

none so righteous as our God.

3          Strong men stand in mute dismay,

but those who faltered put on new strength.

4          Poverty and riches both come from the Lord;

he brings low and he raises up.

5          He lifts the weak out of the dust

and raises the poor from the refuse heap

6          to give them a place among the great,

to assign them seats of honour.

7          The foundations of the earth are the Lord’s,

and he has set the world upon them.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit:

as it was in the beginning, is now,

and will be for ever.                                       Amen.

10        Final Collect

Eternal God and Father,
you create us by your power
and redeem us by your love:
guide and strengthen us by your Spirit,
that we may give ourselves today
in love and service to one another and to you;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O God,

you are the author of peace

and lover of concord.

To know you is eternal life,

to serve you is perfect freedom.

Defend your servants in every stress and danger,

that we may trust in your defence

and not fear the power of any adversaries;

through Jesus Christ our Redeemer.                  Amen.

11        Conclusion

Always be joyful;

pray continually;

give thanks whatever happens;

for this is what God wills for you in Christ Jesus.

And the blessing of God almighty,

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,

be with us all.                                                               Amen.
