Epiphany 7 (Year C)

Call to Prayer…………When Christ appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.

Prayer

Eternal God in Glory you created the heavens & the earth the wonder of creation. In glory you called your Son to show your light & your love that humanity might see you in glory. In glory you call the church to be your light that Christ whose light has shone in so much of the darkness in this world might shine for people this day.  Bring us from the darkness of so much of our lives into this place where your light has burned thru the preaching of the word & the celebration of the sacraments enabling people to go out into the world strengthened for service to your kingdom.

Gracious god so much of our lives are lived in darkness, the darkness which allows bitterness to rule, selfishness to dominate & pride to hold sway. We come into the light which is Christ every day & yet we spend so much time in the shadows. Hear us as in the silence of our hearts we confess we have sinned against you & against our neighbour in thought word & deed…………… Lord have mercy upon us, Christ have mercy upon us, Lord have mercy upon us, pardon & deliver us from all evil, grant to forgiveness of all our sins, strengthen us by the power of your Holy Spirit & bring us to the life everlasting.

God of light and truth, open our eyes to the glory of your presence in the world around us, but chiefly in the face of your Son our Lord; that we may grow into his likeness and attain the happy fulfilment of our hope when the splendour of our Saviour will be revealed thru’ the same Jesus Christ our Lord who lives & reigns with you & the Holy Spirit, One God now and for ever.

Thanksgiving: Lord God, we give you thanks for those men & women who have climbed to the mountain top & seen the glory of your Son our Lord. We thank you that they have shared that vision & by their love shown us the way ahead. We praise you that in Christ Jesus you have given us the courage to climb the mountains, to look for your vision for us & see the way ahead. Thank you O God for all the love & kindness we have experienced thru others. Accept our gifts this day that they might bring relief to the poor, maintain your church & proclaim the gospel of Good News. In giving them we give ourselves anew to your service that your kingdom might come & your name be praised in all places. Amen.
