Epiphany 1 (Year C)
Because God was merciful, he saved us through the water of rebirth & the renewing power of the Holy Spirit, which he lavished upon us through Jesus Christ our Saviour.
Gracious God we come before you as your children called by your grace into the fellowship of love thru’ our baptism in Christ. We come as part of that holy fellowship the Church which offers praise in all life thru’ worship & service to you our heavenly Father. We praise you because you have given us truth & beauty in which we can seek you; you have given us grace & peace in which we might know; you have given us life & love to celebrate your presence in our living. To you O God most high who is the source of all life & love we come this day that we might know you are with us in our living.
Loving Father we have been baptised in faith yet to often we appear to be drowning in this world as we thrash out & flounder in it by actions, thoughts & words which deny grace & withhold love. We confess we have sinned by our failure to treat all within the fellowship of faith as our brothers & sisters united in our common goal & we acknowledge that we have no dealt with others as you would have us deal with them in a Spirit of love & peace ………………...
Almighty & most merciful God by your great mercy you have redeemed us through the saving power of your Son Christ Jesus. Grant to us pardon this day for all our sins, time for the amendment of life, the grace & comfort of the Holy Spirit & the life eternal.
Eternal Father at the baptism of Jesus you revealed him to be your son, & anointed him with the Holy Spirit; keep all who are born of water & the Spirit faithful to their calling as your people that your love might be so reflected brightly in the world thru Jesus Christ our Lord who lives and reigns with you & the Holy Spirit, one God now and for ever. Amen
Thanksgiving. Eternal God, by love you have enabled men & women to show faith
in the world & for this we give you thanks. For their faith & love shown to us
we praise you. For the life death & resurrection of your Son we praise & thank
you. For the people of goodwill who in their living have made this world a
better place we thank you. As we offer our thanks this day for all your
wonderful gifts to us we offer these gifts of money for the work of the Church &
the maintenance of the gospel. Lord accept them & allow them to be used wisely
for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.
