Epiphany 1(Year C)

Intercessions

We pray O God for your body the Church on earth, mindful that in times past she has abused her position & holy people have through the sin of religiosity been cruel to others: grant to the Church humility that all your people will not look to their own righteousness but to the righteousness of Christ & so seek to protect those who have doubts about faith, those who are weak in the faith those who are young in the faith…………….

Lord may your will be done………… on earth as it is in heaven

We pray for the exploited & abused of this world; the people who are given miserable wages, people who experience exploitation through political, economic or social control, people who have thru’ weakness abused their own bodies & soul, people who because of colour, creed or culture are despised by those who practice contempt…………..

Lord may your will be done………….. on earth as it is in heaven

We pray for the people of the Sudan: images on our screen but reflections of our brothers & our sisters. God forgive our indifference to your family & give us the opportunity to bring healing to them, peace for their living & food for their survival……..

Lord may your will be done……….. on earth as it is in heaven

We pray for the peoples of these islands that they might live in peace with each other & so promote well-being & health among our citizens. God save the Queen, bless us & all your children, give wisdom to the politicians, & sound judgement to those who uphold the rule of law. Bless those who work to make our nation a better place, those in the caring, teaching & social  professions & give to us all the spirit of brotherhood that we might love each other.

Lord may your will be done………… on earth as it is in heaven

For the sick we pray, people struggling with life through ill health, loneliness, bereavement for those who live in despair & those who have to watch while their close ones suffer. Grant to them your peace & grace we ask thru’ Jesus Christ our Lord

Lord may your will be done……… on earth as it is in heaven.

Heavenly Father we rejoice in the company of those who have confessed you on earth & who have now gone from among us into your presence. Grant to us such faith that we might like them walk in your way all the days of our lives & so come with them into your eternal kingdom where there is no darkness or pain only the light of your love. This we ask in Jesus name who taught us when we pray to say…….

Our father, who art in heaven……..
