14th Sunday after Pentecost (Year B)

Take strength from the grace of God which is ours in Christ Jesus.

Prayer

Almighty God we worship you thru’ grace which you have given to us to be your people. We come with differing thoughts, concerns gratitude & anxieties but we come together because we belong to a circle of care & love within this community & the whole wide world. We come to seek your answer to our concerns, your wisdom to all that baffles us, your guidance for our future because in you we trust. By the power of your word O God has the world come into being & by that same power you enable us to be your people. Give us grace in our worship to offer you our hearts & minds & voices that our praise might offer true adoration to you the One Holy God.

Gracious God, to sing your praise is a joy, to know your love is a great comfort to declare your presence is our task. It is, however, in the tasks of serving you we so often fail. To love others, to share good news, to proclaim liberty & justice, to encourage: these are our tasks & only you know how each & everyone of us fare. Hear us as, in the silence of our hearts, we confess our failure in these things, not because we are always unwilling but sometimes because we are weak or insensitive……………..

Lord have mercy upon us, Christ have mercy upon us, Lord have mercy upon us grant to us pardon & remission of all our sins, time for the amendment of life, confirm & strengthen us in all goodness & keep us in life eternal.

Almighty God you have called your church to witness that we are reconciled to you. Help us to proclaim the good news of your love, that all who hear it may turn to you & know the comfort & strength of your presence thru’ Jesus Christ our Lord who lives & reigns with you & the Holy Spirit, One God, now & for ever. Amen.

Thanksgiving: We thank you O God that your actions spoke louder than any words for in your love for us & all humanity you gave us yourself in your Son Christ Jesus to live our life & to die our death that we might be saved from all evil. We praise you that thru’ that same love we can know faith & enjoy life in your presence. We ask therefore that you accept these our gifts this day & that they might be used for the work of Christ in this world. As we offer them we rededicate ourselves to his cause that his name might be made known wherever there is need & that his love will be shown in our lives. This we ask in his name who lives & reigns & is glorified with you & the Holy Spirit, the One eternal God. Amen.
